The highlights of last season include Vladimir’s appearance on the national radio show From The Top, winning the MYS Solo Competition and soloing with the MYS in the Minneapolis Orchestra Hall, receiving the Jacobson Prize at the YPSCA finals, and becoming the West Central Division Winner of the MTNA Senior String Competition. His most recent accomplishments include winning the 2nd prize of the La Crosse Rising Stars Concerto Competition and MacPhail Concerto/Aria Competition.
Aside from music, Vladimir enjoys downhill skiing, theater, and traveling, especially visiting the tallest buildings in the world. He is a movie nerd and an active member of the film lovers’ community.
Born and raised in Twin Cities, MN, the ninth grader Tingting Wang is about to have her orchestral debut on April 21st, 2024 with the Dakota Valley Symphony. Since birth, she was surrounded with music through accompanying her older sister to Yamaha piano group lessons. At the age of three, Tingting was adamant about attending Yamaha classes. She then moved on to private lessons when she was five years old.
In 2022, Tingting joined Rubinstein Music Academy to study with Dr. Denis Evstuhin, an internationally-acclaimed pianist. Dr. Evstuhin enlightened and elevated Tingting’s technical and artistic skills to a different level. He also introduced her to a wider range of piano repertoire, including concertos.
In addition to the Dakota Valley Symphony, Tingting won the concerto competition at her high school this year. She also received honorable mention at the Rising Stars Concerto Competition in La Crosse, WI. In 2023, she won second place at the Minnesota Music Teachers Association Junior Young Artist contest. For two consecutive years, she has won third place at the Piano Solo Festival contest at the University of Northwestern-St. Paul.
Inspired by the full and beautiful sounds of orchestral music, Tingting also enjoys playing cello in the school orchestra. She’s honored to be able to perform as a soloist with a symphony orchestra, and looks forward to collaborate with the Dakota Valley Symphony.
At school, Tingting engages in Science Olympiad and Econ Start-up clubs. For two years in a row, her Science Olympiad team won the state champion title. In the community, she dances and performs in various events with her dance academy. At home, she enjoys a variety of activities, such as baking, gardening, crocheting, and playing table tennis
