Michael Slagle: Lake Land
August 9, 2018 - September 8, 2018
Opening Reception August 15, 6-8pm
Michael Slagle's current body of work is inspired by the landscape of the St Croix River Valley. The paintings are also an aesthetic exploration of depth vs flatness, repetition, and rhythm. For example, the flowers, outlined in black, still convey depth. Dark, monotone structures blend in with their reflection and sit among a cloudy, atmospheric background.
Monday-Friday 9AM - 5PM
Saturday 10AM - 2PM
Open to patrons during all ticketed events.
Ames Center currently holds eight gallery exhibits every calendar year in its 2,000 square-foot art gallery. Our mission is to celebrate the visual arts by displaying a diverse collection of artwork from local emerging and professional artists. Artist or arts organizations interested in displaying their artwork are also encouraged to apply for the following opportunities.
Exhibit proposals are reviewed annually in June for the following calendar year. The deadline to apply is May 15. All applicants will be notified of selection decisions by the end of June. Individual artists, artist organizations, and groups working in any visual 2D or 3D medium may submit an exhibit proposal. Artwork and exhibit proposal selection will be based on artistic quality, originality, presentation and overall fit with the year's gallery programming. Please see application for more information.
