An afternoon of spirited Romantic dance music and lyrical vocal charm. Opening with Johannes Brahms’ Hungarian Dances, the orchestra ignites the hall with bright rhythms and sparkling momentum, setting a lively tone that carries through the concert. Florence Price’s Piano Concerto, featuring Osip Nikiforov as soloist, brings vivid contemporary warmth and dramatic contrast, as the piano moves with both dazzling brilliance concluding with an energetic Juba Dance. With Brahms’ Liebeslieder Waltzes the spotlight shifts to the Dakota Valley Chorus, Austin Meyer, Chorus Master, whose elegant blend and expressive phrasing turn the program toward intimacy and human tenderness. The evening culminates in Dvořák’s Slavonic Dances, where folk energy and communal excitement sweep everything to a celebratory, final flourish.
