A Burnsville Family Christmas with Mayor Elizabeth Kautz, Narrator
Sunday, December 8, 2019 at 2pm
Join the Dakota Valley Symphony and Chorus and special guest narrator Mayor Elizabeth Kautz for a family friendly Christmas Celebration. Our own composer and principal trombonist, Randy Stokes, is preparing a delightful suite of pieces for the orchestra describing the scene at the Inn in Bethlehem. And our own Mayor Kautz will read us the story Twas the Night before Christmas, illustrated by the orchestra. We will also create our very own collection of pieces from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker and will wrap it all up an audience sing-along of the Hallelujah Chorus. What a warm and inspiring concert to help us get into the spirit of the season!
Stokes: Suite from A Child is Born
O'Loughlin: Christmas Canticles
Handel: Hallelujah Chorus from Messiah
Tchaikovsky: Nutcracker Suite
Holcombe: Twas the Night Before Christmas,

Tchaikovsky: Symphony No. 5
While Maestro Ramsey is away, the Dakota Valley Symphony welcomes Ukrainian/Minnesotan Conductor, Yuri Ivan, to the podium for a performance of Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5. Raised in an environment that is rich with the traditions of Russian music, Yuri will surely bring us a performance of the Tchaikovsky that is true to the spirit of the composer: dramatic, powerful, and above all, captivatingly tuneful. This concert will also feature the winner of our Young Artists’ Competition.
